The history of Alimaj Fashion began with its creator early in her life as she created fashion for her dolls. Her creative genius was even further enhanced as she took on the task of styling her sisters and friends' hair — even though she was barely more than a baby herself.
Her eye for what was hot and what was not allowed her to share fashion tips with her peers and adults who listened and accepted the consultations gladly. Her mother, realizing that Alimaj had an eye for fashion, encouraged her to pursue her passion for the art — and thus the journey into fashion as a career began.
A graduate of the Art Institute of Seattle, Jamila McDaniel has built the House of Alimaj from the ground up — Memphis born, West Coast refined, and entirely unapologetic in her vision.
